These tips are for you……….
Expect to get less done when the kids are off school. It’s impossible to get as much done during the school holidays so let yourself off the hook. By lowering your expectations of what you can get done, you’ll feel less guilt, and be more emotionally available to engage and enjoy time together.
Resist the pressure to entertain, and plan lots of exciting things to do during the summer. Allowing children to entertain themselves increases their independence and creativity. The times you remember most from childhood summers are never the big things.
Share the summer childcare duties with friends and family. Get together with other families and take it in turn to entertain the kids, or plan activities together. Don’t feel like it’s all down to you, it is, if you let it be this way.
